St. John Vladimir's Church is a modern practicing Orthodox church built in 2016. It's located in Bar, near the embankment.
The church is named after John Vladimir — Serbian leader of Dukla (a state that formerly occupied the territory of Montenegro) in X-XI centuries. He died as a martyr and was later awarded sainthood. He's considered the "heavenly protector" of Bar.
The church was financed by donations from believers around the world. Namely, the Russian Orthodox Church donated several bells and a golden cross 3 meters high.
Nowadays the St.John Vladimir's Church is the biggest Orthodox church in Montenegro and one of the largest in the world. It has 11 bells, the largest of which weighs 800kg. Inside, the church is decorated with icons and frescas. Nearby there's a holy water source.
